The highest-rated episode of the season was the season premiere, watched by 28.36 million viewers, with a 10.1 rating, being the series' second highest-rated episode to date. However, the main cast members, as well as the guest stars, received critical acclaim, resulting in numerous awards and nominations. Cherry has since said that he regrets most of the second season and that ABC's decision to order an additional episode for the season forced the series to work on an abbreviated schedule. The season received mixed reviews from television critics, noting Marc Cherry's lack of involvement in the production as one of the main reasons for the series' decreasing quality. The main story lines of the season were Susan Mayer's relationship with her former husband, Gabrielle Solis' upcoming motherhood, Lynette Scavo's return to work and the death of Bree Van de Kamp's husband. The second season had fourteen roles receiving star billing, out of whom eleven were part of the first season's main cast. " Time to Come Clean" aired three weeks before the inception of the third season, and reviewed the previous mysteries of the series before introducing the new story lines. " All the Juicy Details" aired before the eleventh episode, detailing the most memorable events of the season's first half, whereas " The More You Know, The Juicier It Gets", which aired before the twentieth episode, prepared the viewers for the highly anticipated season finale. In addition, three clip shows were produced for the season, in order to put the previous events of the show in perspective. Broadcast in the Sunday night time slot at 9.00 ET, the season aired twenty-four regular episodes, including a two-part season finale. The season continues the story of the Wisteria Lane residents, while their seemingly perfect lives in the suburban neighborhood are shaken by the arrival of the mysterious Betty Applewhite. He also specializes in over-analyzing his favorite shows like Glee, Lost, Community, Ugly Betty, and Grey's Anatomy as well as his favorite actors' performances, like Olivia Colman, Olivia Colman, and Olivia Colman. He considers Mean Girls, Bridesmaids, and Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist peak cinema. His favorite media franchises are (in no particular order and controversies aside) Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the Wizarding World. Musically, he thinks Jack Antonoff is a multiversal being with the key to create bop after bop. Magically, he's 83% Ravenclaw with 17% Slytherin. Professionally, he's got a degree in International Finance and has been in the real estate business for almost 10 years now (yikes!). Mauricio is a Mexican guy who gets attached to cancelled TV shows, likes to read Marvel comics about underdog teams, and has been told one-too-many times he looks like Penn Badgley, specifically in his stalker-y roles. In the process, she forms a bond with Trip ( Scott Bakula), her lawyer. To make matters worse, she is then accused of being the sole person responsible for Alejandro’s murder. Bree spirals back into alcoholism, considers suicide as a way out, and goes back to her manipulative ex-husband, Orson Hodge ( Kyle McLachlan), for solace. After hiding some information from her friends, they turn their back on her. Bree is perhaps the housewife whose life is hit the hardest. She then prevents the transfer and Tom, without knowing she was the one who caused it in the first place, gets back with her. After trying to drive a wedge between Tom and Jane ( Andrea Parker), his new girlfriend, she gets his boss ( Reed Diamond) to transfer him to India. Lynette’s separation from Tom ( Doug Savant) takes her to new levels of manipulation. Mike ( James Denton) is shot to death by a vengeful loan shark at her doorstep, leading to her decision to leave Wisteria Lane. To make matters worse, instead of having one of its traditional disaster episodes, the show’s disaster was a personal loss for Susan. But as frustrating as her actions are, it’s understood that her humanity and empathy make her the most deeply scarred. Throughout the season, Susan engages in multiple self-destructive attitudes that draw suspicion to the women.
